School of the Arts

The AOA School of the Arts was founded by Dr. Leland Chou in 1994. Dr. Chou began with a community chorus and went on to provide lessons in strings and piano. Since its inception, the school has grown to service over 200 children per year through lessons in music, visual and performing arts. Classes are offered after school in strings, flute, piano, guitar, chorus, drums, individual voice and art. The Annual Concert is held in May in the Maguire Theatre located on the second and third floor of The Center. The Leland Chou Scholarship Fund provides lessons to children whose families are financially disadvantaged. Summer Art Drama Camp and Art Smart are what’s happening in the summer!

The School is an established after-school visual and performing arts program with a 15-year history of teaching children and adults. Our unique program is designed to provide children with an opportunity to explore and develop confidence in their own creativity. It is an ongoing, sequential, program where skills are developed in arts and crafts, drama instruction, chorus, private voice, piano, woodwind instruments, drums and percussions and strings instruments.
